Previous Offsite Exposure Tracking System (POETS), ca. 1990-Current

Location: Active: SRS, Building 735-11A, Room 104

Access Restrictions: Database is unclassified and may be a Privacy Act System of Records; Building 735-11A is in a security-controlled area.

Location of Codebooks and Manuals: Unknown

Location/Volume of Storage Media: Unknown

Hardware/Software: Digital MicroVAX/INGRESS database management system

Office/Program Supported by the System: Radiological Control and Health Physics Department, Westinghouse Savannah River Company

Disposition Authority: Unscheduled

System Description: This system tracks the amount of radiation received by Savannah River Site (SRS) employees while working for previous employers. Although workers provide this information voluntarily, other nuclear sites and contractors provide documentation of previous radiation. Radiological Control and Health Physics (RCHP) uses the system to update the Health Physics Radiation Exposure Database. Data is organized by social security number and name. Information includes the beginning and ending dates of current and cumulative exposure; readings, as acquired by RCHP from the facilities where employees worked previously; duration of exposures; whether exposures occurred prior to or following employment at SRS; internal cumulative doses from previous facilities; total lifetime exposures; and skin dose equivalents for current year of employment.

Data Elements: 7-8, 24-25, 30, 59-62, 65, 68-69, 71
