Series Description: The records in this series consist of internal reports and correspondence from the Nuclear Materials Control Organization to the Albuquerque Operations Office regarding unexplained nuclear material inventory differences. The records provide names of the supervisors and custodians of the MBAs [Material Balance Areas] under investigation, probable causes for missing or unaccounted for material or "out of control conditions," and the administrative actions taken after discovery of the conditions. The majority of the differences were caused by incorrect measuring procedures, equipment malfunctions, or improper storage and handling procedures.
