Series Description: This series contains the records of the Office of the General Manager and consists of correspondence, memoranda, diaries, and meeting minutes. Two boxes in the collection pertain to 1957. Box 5508, Folder 15, contains correspondence between General Alfred Starbird, Director of Military Applications, and Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) Chairman Lewis Strauss on the 1957 fire (September 12 and 17, 1957) and from AEC General Manager Kenneth Fields to the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy Chairman (September 18, 1957). Box 5509 also contains correspondence regarding the fire.
