Series Description: Records consist of photocopies of letters sent from various Rocky Flats departments to the Rocky Flats Monitoring Committee, which, according to a press release in the records, "was appointed in 1976 by Governor Lamm and Congressman Wirth to provide a public overview of the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons operations . . . and its effects on the citizens of the Denver metropolitan area." Much of the correspondence was written in response to Committee requests for copies of plant reports, monitoring data, and publications. Subjects of interest include the plant's mission, level of production, employee safety incentive program, worker monitoring records, employee cancer and mortality rates, fire detection and suppression systems, and shipment of radioactive materials. Also included in the records are press releases, committee newsletters, an annual report, and an evaluation of the Committee's effectiveness written by the Office of the Governor of Colorado.
