Series Description: This series documents Thomas Mancuso's dismissal as director of the Atomic Energy Commission Health and Mortality Study and a subsequent investigation conducted by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of the Inspector General. A transcript of the interview conducted by investigators comprises the largest portion of the records. Also included is a chronology of events leading to his dismissal and the investigation; a letter to DOE Secretary James Schlesinger, dated November 9, 1977, protesting his dismissal; and other correspondence and memoranda.
