Series Description: This series consists of records which were once filed under "Materials" in a central correspondence file maintained successively by the Atomic Energy Commission, Energy Research and Development Administration, and Department of Energy. Included are copies of correspondence, waste management status reports, solid waste summaries, and weekly newsletters produced by the Defense Transuranic (TRU) Waste Program. Topics addressed include the Nuclear Materials Safeguards Program; accountability and safety in fissile operations; waste incineration, packaging, and shipment; drum liners, safety seals, and strength tests; effluent control systems; mixed waste identification and volume estimates; TRU Waste Operations; and many more.
