Series Description: This series consists of records which document the waste-producing chemical processes which take place in every building at Rocky Flats. The records in the series are reviewed annually by the Department of Energy and CDPHE [Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment] to insure that waste handling practices at Rocky Flats are in compliance with state and other government regulations. Included are Residue/Waste Stream Characterization Worksheets, which describe how waste is generated, managed, and characterized. Other data in these worksheets include stream numbers, IDC [item description code] numbers, EPA [Environmental Protection Agency] codes, and applicable RCRA [Resource Conservation and Recovery Act] regulations. Also included are WSRIC [Waste Stream and Residues Identification and Characterization] Field Verification Worksheets, which provide narrative descriptions of each building process (e.g., "building houses equipment for separating nitrogen from ambient air"). File folders labeled Comments contain records which document corrections to initial waste characterizations. Data Elements: 81, 88-89, 103, 119, 124 |
