Many of these activities were conducted in conjunction with other departments and divisions within ORNL, such as Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, and with other federal agencies, such as the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). The reports describe various research projects dealing with the development of instruments for water radiation analysis, surveillance of White Oak Creek and Lake, and water decontamination, including sewage treatment and rain water analysis. They describe monitoring of fish and fish tissue for beta and gamma decay. The reports also chronicle the routine activities of the Waste Disposal Research Section.
