for Inhalation Study Using
5-Micron-Diameter Niobium-92m
INCLUSIVE DATES 1979 1982
ARRANGEMENT Alphabetical by subject name
VOLUME approximately 0.5 cubic foot
DESCRIPTION This series contains files for human subjects who
participated in a study by the Whole Body Counter
staff. The phantom validation study involved eight
male subjects, five British and three American,
who inhaled 5-micron-diameter niobium-92m. The
study was initiated by the United Kingdom to
evaluate the Humanoid phantom as a calibration
tool for measuring plutonium in the lungs and was
approved by review boards in the U.K. and U.S.
After inhalation, subjects visited several
laboratories for "counting." Records for
individual subjects are maintained in notebooks.
Typical record types in the series include forms,
raw data, photos, and lung clearance graphs. This
series is interfiled with Project Administration
records and records of the other two validation
studies.
